Jokowi’s Indonesian Vision ….. and some questions.

I love the glorious oratory and profound human decency of President Jokowi’s “Visi Indonesia” speech. I have some questions.

The President described “Fenomena global …… penuh kejutan, yang sering jauh dari kalkulasi kita” – “Global phenomena ……. full of surprises which are often far from what we calculated on” Are the following statements by me examples of two such surprises: “Aku mau jadi WNI” and “Aku berhijrah ke Malang cari aman.”?

When the president said “Pembangunan SDM menjadi kunci Indonesia ke depan.” (Human resources development is the key to Indonesia’s future.), did that include the possibility of adding me to the human resources? Would bringing foreign teachers into Indonesia in a world class Indonesian university and spending less on sending Indonesians to study overseas be better for HR development?

The president also said: “Titik dimulainya pembangunan SDM adalah dengan menjamin kesehatan ibu hamil, kesehatan bayi, kesehatan balita, kesehatan anak usia sekolah. Ini merupakan umur emas untuk mencetak manusia Indonesia yang unggul ke depan. Itu yang harus dijaga betul.” – “The beginning of the development of human resources is guaranteeing the health of pregnant mothers, the health of babies, the health of infants and the health of school children. This is the golden period for creating excellent future Indonesians. It must be properly protected.” Is this type of thinking Kartiniism? Isnt Kartini’s thinking what the whole world needs?

The President asked, “Ideologi Pancasila adalah satu-satunya ideologi bangsa yang setiap warga negara harus menjadi bagian darinya! Setuju?” (Do you agree that the Pancasila ideology is the people’s only ideology and that every citizen must become a part of it?) As someone who wants to be an Indonesian, I answer, “Yes. I love Pancasila.
